The Chevrolet Camaro has an onboard computer that monitors the vehicle’s oil life. When the vehicle is due for an oil change, the light comes on to remind the driver to service the vehiccle. This light must be reset immediately after an oil change. There are 2 methods to resetting the oil life indicator depending on if your Camaro comes equipped with a Driver Information Center (DIC) or not. For Camaros with the DIC, either method can be used.
Chevrolet Camaro oil life reset ( without DIC)
- Turn the key to IGNITION ON (no engine start).
- Fully press and release the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds.
- Turn the key to OFF, then start the vehicle.
- If the light or message comes back on when you start the vehicle, the OIL LIFE SYSTEM has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
Vehicles with DIC
- Turn the key to IGNITION ON (no engine start).
- Press the option button on the DIC until ENGINE OIL MONITOR appears on the DIC screen.
- Press the set/reset button to reset the system. The next screen indicates that the CHANGE OIL SOON message has been reset. If the vehicle has the uplevel DIC, when the gauges button is pressed and the OIL LIFE REMAINING mode appears, it should read 100 percent OIL LIFE REMAINING.
- Turn the key to OFF.
