The Ford F150 oil life should be reset after completing an oil change. below are the steps on how to reset it depending on your model.
Ford F150 oil life reset for models 2004-2010
- Turn the ignition to the “on” position.
- Press and hold the Select/Release knob on your dashboard until the display reads “OIL LIFE XXX% HOLD RESET = NEW”.
- Press and hold the reset button for approximately two seconds and release to reset the oil life to 100%.
- Turn off the ignition and then restart the engine to verify that the oil life indicator has been reset to 100%.
Models 2011 –
- Turn the ignition to the “on” position, but do not start the engine.
- Use the directional pad on the steering wheel to access the settings menu.
- The menu path to reset your oil life is as follows: Settings>Vehicle>Oil Life Reset
- From there, you can set the oil life to whatever percentage you choose.
- Turn off the ignition and then restart the engine. Oil life should be 100%

NOTE: The Ford oil monitoring system is based on an algorithm that is used to extend the frequency of oil changes. It is not based on an oil condition detection system within the motor.
